hello everybody

i got my fe 390 1 year ago and all was well. about 3 months ago there were times when the bike wouldnt start when cold. it does this once in a while i cant figure out what it is. changed the battery and spark plug but i reckon its either electrical or fuel. i would appreciare your views on this

so it cranks but won't fire? do you smell fuel at all? have you checked spark?
 
Not starting when cold; did you try it with the cold start knob pulled out?
It puts the butterfly valve a little bit open so more petrol is provided.
Other causes; ignition wiring loose or rotten (once just had to replace Spark plug head), too little petrol (filter dirty, not enough pressure, summer fuel instead of winter fuel, etc.), wiring to pump bad ground or loose connection.
But there might be other causes too, just eliminate every possible cause and you’ll find what causes the start problems.
 
Nothing to do with the knob. The ignition reacts the same even when I pull it. I'm starting to think it's fuel related but I wanna start from the ignition and inwards. Changed battery and ignition coils recently and there was no problem. Then I used the bike for 5', left it for a couple of hours and it wouldn't start again
 
Confirm the pump has power. If it does but is not outputting the correct pressure replace it. Most starting or running issues are fuel related on these bikes.

It gives me 2 flashes on the fi light. It must be the crankshaft position sensor
 
The manual says that when the fi indicator flashes twice it's the crankshaft position sensor. My mechanic says it's the pulser coil. Is there a difference?
 
A bad CAS will very likely effect the function of the ignition system. Does not necessarily mean any of the components are bad.
