Had some real problems trying to start my 550 when i fitted my FCR41, goes like this i fitted my carb after building my motor, it was very hard to start and after reading how much better the FCR makes the bergs start i was a bit pissed off, it finely started with a bit of swearing and two messed up legs.
So off to ride the bike the next day would it start? would it f**k
after messing about for about an hour i came to the conclusion it needs a bigger choke jet, so i had a think as to how i could get some more gas in so as to start the brute,i had a think then altered the accelerator pump stroke so i could pump gas into the motor,GREAT it started, so it looks like i do need more gas.
Yesterday morning before work i took the carb off and had a look at the starter jet :( it has a 80 already. so i just took it all apart cleaned everything with compressed air then stuck it back on.
Two kicks it started on choke, ran at fast idle for a bit pushed the choke in and it ticked over.
i cleaned the carb before i fitted it so never assume because you have done a job that its ok, sometimes worth a second look.
If you are thinking of fitting an fcr DO IT the bike now runs ace and is so easey to start.
cookeye
