I was wondering if the offset on a 1998 FC is more or less than a FE model?
I just purchased a set of triple clamps off of a 1998 FE501 and the offset is 11mm and that is from the center of fork tube hole to the center of steering stem hole. When I measure the OEM clamps on my FC501 I get 17mm. Could this be correct?
I would think that the offset on the FC model would be less than the FE model. Is this true or I'm I doing something wrong?

your FC clamps have little trail and the bike will change direction quickly which is necassary for MX. to flick the bike etc.

the FE clamps at 11mm will turn quickly in the woods whilst being very stable in a straight line. they won't follow a berm quite as well-tending to ride over the top etc.

i'm not brilliant at this but i am getting the hang of it so i hope i've got you in the ball park.

Sounds like with my style of riding I should benefit from the FE clamps. Thank you for the information, this will help make a decision.
Now it's hurry up and wait for my new clamps. Chomping at the bit.
Thanks again.

I'm considering it. Actually one of the guys I ride with has ridden the Hatfield and McCoy and it's not to terribly far from me. Hopefully I will be able to make it. Thanks for the invite.
