I just got a 95 FC501 yesterday. I am totally new to Husabergs and European bikes in general. It supposedly has less than 30 hours on the motor rebuild and the valves have been kept in check. It runs great but it does make some valve noise. I had a yz400f that also made valve noise but i think this one is louder. Is a certain amount of noise normal from these bikes? Does anyone have any helpful information? Thanks,
Dana

Well if this is a normal thing, ill be able to try it out this coming week if the snow ever melts off in new york. I have to say, the design of this bike is really interesting and ahead of its time. I really liked the yz400f i had but this bike seems like a great machine. The four stroke provides a nice change of pace from my cr250.

valve noise

what is really the origin of this noise anyway??
is it the cam chain that hits on the cylinder head or whatever?

my 600 had only 1 chain driver and i put a second one, the sound effects didnot really changed..

can someone enlight me please... :?:

thanks in advance

when in doubt, check it out.
check your valve clearances and take an oil sample checking for excess clearance and metal contamination.
if your cam chain is slapping the cases you will inevitably get aluminium in your oil sample.
the next steps are obvious and up to you.

VALVE NOISE

i realise that my english isn't really great so someone might get very confused with my posts :)

i apologise for that.

my question was for this very known particular tickling noise produced by default in all husaberg models and earlier huskys.

it sounds like someone threw nuts and bolts in to the cylinder :D

that is of what i am curious of.......

noise

On early Husabergs They used lash caps between the top of the valve stem and the rocker, After 97-98 the adjusting for lash came with a camel foot type of end that rode on the end of the valve stem. I have both motors in two bikes the older one with lash caps, If I adjust the valves the old one has louder valve noise than the 98, And the old one has a maybe 10 hr since new motor very fresh. Of course my 98 501 & 600 have very quiet motors you can not hear the motor over the exhaust.
