ok heres the problem, my o2 470 is not starting as it should ive stripped and rebuilt carb so ruled out fuel, checked stator and getting all correct readings and a good strong spark but still hard to start from cold and nearlly impossable from hot! checked valve tappets and there ok. Seems like theres a problem with valve seatings as im getting backdraft through carb inlet when engine turns over, should this happen? do valves need reground?

Any advice much appreciated as i need bike ready in two weeks for winter meeting.

when did it last start and what has changed since then. what do you mean by "not starting as it should"? did it spit back thru the carb before you adjusted the valves?

yeah it was blowing back before and after i did valves and it was starting after bout 6 or 7 kicks when cold last week.

at this point, i'd be pulling the cam cover and looking at bearings and valve springs.

cheers guys but problem now solved, dont ask what i did cause i aint got a feckin clue, redone tappets blew out intake valves an hey presto sweet as a nut, even starts first kick when hot. Must have been summit in valve seat but now clear and no foriegn ojects to be seen.

you should really strain all the rocks and nuts from your fuel before you put it in your bike.
