here is a pic of the exhaust heat shield that E line now making so pants with burn holes
in them should be something of the past
also I am trying to convince E line to make a carbon fiber skid plate for the berg so
how many of you husaberg riders like have one?

Nice looking heat shield. Should be good for saving folks from some pant leg burns.

The previous discussions and photos of the exhaust header insulator wraps and the ceramic coated header pipes have me interesting in checking out those options.

Probably easier to try the wraps before sending out the pipes for the ceramic coating process.

That looks pretty trick.
Does anyone know if it will fit an 05?
My headers are wrapped and in need of redoing.
This looks much easier.

Viking do you have the part number or a link? I looked on their site, and nothing...

carbon fiber skid plate for the berg

hey,

in germany an berg fan developed among other things this carbon-kevlar skid plate. i run this plate in the 4mm pe-nylon version only. for hardest conditions, the outer pe-nylon skin protects the fibres.

thats a brand new part so it wont be on the wed site thats the first on made

that skid plate looks good however it lacks some protection for water pump/ hose and
ignition cover where I live it is a must my aluminum skid plate bares the marks

These carbon fibre bits look good but they are a bit too bling and expensive for me. I've seen some exhaust heat shields on ebay in the UK for about £10 but they just cover the rear part of the pipe where it goes in to the silencer box or muffler. Does anyone do a cheap aluminium shield for the headers?

have spoken to the chap that makes those ones on ebay as i've had his stuff on my last 3 bikes and suggested he looks at doing a header guard.

Exhaust header sheild

Check out these tasty little things
We make these header sheilds for 05 to 08 bergs . Im sure their less expensive than the eline gear & aren't made in china , good ole ozzy invention
You can get them through Anthony Gunter at the dirt bike factory
Email [email protected]
sure beats buying new pants each time youride

Hi,

There is a topic on this subject that I started last week http://www.husaberg.org/index.php?name= ... pic&t=8148 , but somehow it ended up in the suspension section.

I tested the MotoComposites guards for another website. They are great quality gear, made from top notch carbon fibre locally in Australia. The prices are extremely reasonable, even more so for the UK based readers due to favourable exchange rate.

The link to my review is http://www.eatmydirt.com.au//articles/4260. Have a read and let me know what you think.

Regards,
Ozberg

I have been running a header shield from MotoComposites for around 3 months and can vouch for there quality and strength, money well spent!!
MotoComposites are currently selling some on Ebay.com.au

Thanks. I read Ozberg's article and I thought they would be a similar price to the eline product so I didn't go any further. I'll have a look in to them a bit more.
Perhaps if Cypher's contact makes something suitable for the headers it would be cheaper than carbon fibre. If he does maybe Cypher could post a note on the forum

Soooo. It has been more than a year since I have even visited UHE :( and I see that e-line now has the carbon fiber shields and I am prepared to buy, but does anyone in the northwest know of a local place (i.e. Oregon) to get these or the equivalent.

Is Mr. Bozarth still out there with a BOSS version?

TIA :withstupid:

I think BOSS is stocking the Eline exhaust sheild

Thanks.

Funny, I did not realize that I had used the "I am with stupid" emotocon that would point it's arrow at Bozarth's name. Oops.

I have never been "with" Bozarth. He is not stupid. I am, especially when it comes to Berg's. But it was kinda funny the way the thing formated.

Rich,

That is nice work! best pipe guard I've seen yet for the berg, nice and compact.

did you take a mould direct from the plastics with the inner fender? how did you make the moulds for the pipe guard and bashplate?

I reckon the bash plate could go a tad higher in the front and wings to protect the WP hose in particular.

verry nice work!

azza,
thanks for the compliments, i appreciate it. i used the actual inner fenders as the mold. i applied mold release to the fenders and vacuum bagged the carbon fiber. the construction is 2 layers of carbon fiber. definetely not the best way to do it, the parts are slightly oversized compared to stock. i built the fenders solely for the bling factor, so no big deal. the mold for the pipe gaurd was built using foam and masking tape to create the shape i wanted, then using fiber glass to create the actual mold. the gaurd is built with 3 layers of carbon, i also used heat reflective tape on the back side. the resin i use is good to 300 deg. so its holding up well. for the skid plate i made a fiberglass mold from an aluminum skid plate. i modified the shape of the mold to work better with the composite construction. both the fiberglass molds took lots of tweaking to get to the right shape. i am working on a more form fitting skid plate with more protection for the wp and hose. the skid plate is 2 layers of kevlar and 4 layers of carbon, so far so good on the durability.
take care,
rich

Nice work Rich.

I dont understand the vaccum bagging process bit, can you lay up carbon & kevlar with a small paddle roller as normal with FG, or is there a special method required?

I love doing FG moulding, my second job out of school was fibreglass laminating 40ft cruising yachts, verry specialises boats but FG is just FG nothing too complicated - CF and kevlar is a whole new world I'd expect.

Last ime I tried to get carbon fibre cloth here I was told that there was a global shortage or something, cost was astronomical.
