Hello all,

I am getting excessive chain wear and I cant figure out what is causing it? When I get back from a 2 hr ride the Teflon bottom plate has a line of metal shavings below the front sprocket. Anyone seen this before?

i would think that the chain has worked it's way through the plastic in the chain guide (underneath and infront of the rear sprocket) and is now into the alloy exterior part.

if you run 50T and above it is a must to reposition the chain guide down by re-drilling a fresh hole above the old one to gain a little extra space.

i did this about 5 years ago and it's in the doc somewhere although w/o photos i believe!

regards

Taffy

Thanks,

I will post picks tomorrow. It is very strange I have looked at all the guides and see no excessive wear on any of the guides.

I power washed it today and took it for a little spin. when I put her in the garage the same link trail of metal shavings was starting.

If the guides are in good shape what would be my next plan of attack?
Thanks Mike

Have a look at the inside of your frame just rearward of the countershaft and the pins on your masterlink as well as the bolt/retainer that holds the lower part of your swingarm chain slider to the swingarm.

Mine did the same thing until I changed the joining link on my chain to a rivet link. Check the frame as above!!
