Okay guys need help, rode my bike for 4 or so hours yesterday heaps of fun, 08 fe450. Got home was running fine parked it in the shed. Got it out today, washed it, then went to start it to dry the engine off. Tick tick no turn, check battery 13.3v. Kick start... solid won't budge. Hmm perhaps I got water in the intake pull spark plug still won't turn. Suspect seized, fulled cylinder with engine oil till over flowed no water, coolant or metal particals came out... What has happened to my baby?

When I bought it was told it had aftermarket stronger valve springs, was this just Stealership smoke and mirrors and is it the dreaded snapped valve spring...

Can't work on it or do any more investigating till the weekend but thought I would put it out here for opinions and advice.

Want to add rekluse Zstart pro so pushing in gear no an option.

Thank you to any replies. Love this bike and will still be paying it off for another 3 years so hope it can be fixed easily

take the ignition cover off and try and turn the end of the crank that way. that would be a start.

if it does turn then take the valve covers off to see if the rocker and tappets look similar.

there can be many reasons for it not turning but I'll cross my fingers and hope for you!

regards

Taffy

I always wash my dirt bikes. Every ride or other.
But I never start them afterwards.

I have exhaust rap so need to dry it out or it will rust the pipes, also how can I spray it down with Wd40 is it's wet... Engine get Wd40 plastics and frame get silicone spray.. Gota look after her. I don't think the washing was a factor but for of a coincidence

Yeah I know some guys soray them down with Wd40 and Silicone. Not me.
I wash mine, degrease the chain and sprocket area, dry very well , lube chain and leave it. Nothing else.

I start the bike after a wash let run till engine is dry. Reason possible oxidation of engine but mostly so plug area stays dry also oil chain. I wash after each ride if mud is present

Washing regimes is so dependent on the terrain you ride in. In Sweden where I live it will be very muddy. So I have to wash my bike no question about it. Unless it is winter.

So we all have our routines.

Just thought I should update this thread.

Is the bike is rebuilt now (very costly) it she is better than ever!

Left main had dropped, this damaged the ballancer and ballancer bearings, the intake valves and water pump bearing and seals were replaced at this time too. Everything else was cleaned and checked and found to be well with in specifications.

Big thanks to Gisiler Moto Techica for the hard years he went to mechining parts and rebuilding my bike!
