i've lloked everywhere but i can't find an engine stand?

i want one that holds half-a-crankcase and rotates with the axis along the bike?

anyone seen one?

regards

well i don't know who has them really but i've seen them in like a dream somewhere recently whilst i wasn't thinking about one. i think i've seen them in the husaberg service manuals and stuff.

i don't want to keep rolling it around the bench.

I've only seen engine stands that looks like the one pictured in the 05-07 Repair manual (page A6) which attaches to the front engine mounts and in the swing arm mount. Is that what you'r looking for?
One of them that I saw had a long bolt welded to the stand which run through one of the engine mounts and was used (with a nut) to hold the crankcase in place, when the stand was tilted/rotated.
The bolt was threaded long enough to be able to lock the crankcase to the stand regardless if you had the whole crankcase or just had half of it in the stand. The rotaion could be locked at 0, 45, 90 and 120 degrees.
A plate (with a hose down to some sort of canister) was mounted beneath for gathering the oil during disassembly.

A decent welder should be able to fabricate one.

Sorry if I misunderstood what you'r looking for. (really should be zzzzz right now)

Sherco Factory Trained Technicians

above is a link to a photo and the caption above it. by the way, the two blokes in the photo are english and the photo was taken in st albans so where the factory trained bit comes in i'm not sure.......

trailworls have stopped advertising sherco in TBM so i guess the money is running out....

very nice bikes. TBM has pushed them initially coz trailworld took double page ads etc but that was dec/jan/feb. they then went to single page through mar/apr/may and june while sharing the add with trailworld. now trailworld have dropped them completely. i know that sherco gave them an advertising budget and that will have run out by now thus the above.

i've seen a 2006 being broken on bob mullins which is extraordinary!

they ride beautifully but the speedo goes within 10 hours and you have to be very careful jet washing them. i did a rebuild in the time i worked for them as it had run short of oil. nobody had checked it and that was typical of the 'fun' attitude of the company.

great attitude for trail ride but not so good for being the importer. trailworld are the only people handling the bike. they got rid of all the dealers and tried to do it all from the middle and their adverts are an example of how NOT to run a business!!! who could forget their slagging of KTM with pistured of orange sheep and oranges.... then a picture of a black sherco month after month with the logo; "you too can be blue...".

enginehardwear has tried aprilia and come back and i think you'd be back a week later as well! they devalue like a stone and despite their £3k moneyback offer the fact is you have to buy them for the full retail when you can normally get £600 off new if you haggle.

they've done it all wrong they really have. i don't know the story on the 250. it was down last month in TBM as 'we've waited for the new sherco for as long as we could but we had to get on.....' and 'it'll be in next (this) months edition....'.

still isn't and no advert so......

Do they have any reliability issues, if so i'm guessing spare parts may very hard to source.
I shall be keeping the Berg as i have become very attatched to it  but the low seat height of the Sherco makes it a better option for me

well the electrics are poor IMHO. the '08 hasn't been sorted coz the guy that runs WOR - steve ireland - had trouble at christmas on his '08 model. the spares situation may now be sorted but 4 months ago was a 'mare. malcolm rathmell sports had all the stock and there was bickering over their value. MRS are a good compnay but they won't be messed and the parts stock had to be purchased by the new enduro importer or they would be stuck with the stuff!

mechanically they had terrible trouble with the first 510 gearboxs in '05 but has since been sorted. they can be a bit like a husaberg i suppose - never the same problem.

the EFI is good but no better than a standard keihin and nowhere near my set up. they are a great trail bike for sure and the suspension is sublime.
