Hi everybody!

I have to change engine oil of my FE 600.
10W40 API SJ Synthetic Oil could be a good option??
Brand is REPSOL, but qas could read, It is not fully Synthetic.

Thanks for your help.

well,

there´s lots of discussion in this forum about Engine-oil,
and as there are lots of members, there are lots of different opinions 8O

As long your doesn´t have any friction-modifier in it(clutch will start to slip) and you have it already:
Use it!
Just change regularly

Synthetic Oil

I have the same bike. After some experimenting I would NOT recommend full synthetic oil for the simple reason that is almost impossible to find in a pinch. I use semi-synthetic so when I dumped it in the river 100kms from the trail head and the only thing I could borrow was standard (SAE) 30 weight from a passing Jeep - I went ahead and did it. Worked fine. Running an engine on full synthetic does increase horsepower - I've dyno'd it but it doesn't like being run on standard 10W-40 AFTER its gotten "used" to the synthetic. You may also have clutch slippage using full synthetic. With semi-synthetic you can mix with either full synthetic or non synthetic if you absolutely have to.

RE: Synthetic Oil

Thanks for your opinions, guys!!
As it is not fully synthetic and it is specific for 4 stroke bikes engine, I will try it!
Thanks once more!

RE: Synthetic Oil

And here it goes, as I said :D

Lots of different opinions...
I`m using only fully-synthetics - these oils DO have advandeges over mineral/semi-synt. oil -
that has been proven in hundreds of studies and in "real life" also :!:
But they are more expensive...
And you can always switch between mineral/semi/fully oils in either direction - aand you can also mix them together(but this is not recommended)
Sorry, but everything else is Bulls...!
Clutch slippage - do you think the factory recomends you something to destroy your clutch?

Image you drink a coffee out of an automat in a plastic-mug made of some powder and mix it with water: this is coffe...
or you drink it in a italien coffee-shop, in a fine cup, made from real coffee beans and and a real (steam) coffee-machine
this is also coffee
So what do you want to "give" your engine: some "crap" or the real stuff
It´s realy up to you

Chichor
Semi synth won't hurt your bike if it's a good quality oil designed for use with wet clutches.
Some guys use oils designed for trains, planes and/or automobiles in order to save a few bucks and it's rumoured that some with friction modifiers can make wet clutches slip.
The main thing is to change it often.
I agree with Gokai that full ester synthetic is the best but I doubt that a semi synth would be far behind and at the rate it should be changed it wouldn't cause any problems.

If you were in a jam and needed oil 100km of the road somewhere then I don't think it'd be real easy finding a good semi synth either.
In that situation any crap would do as long as you changed it to something quality when you got home.

Coops

Save your money and buy Honda Pro 4Stroke or Suzuki 4 stroke oil. If your 600 is an older one like mine, change it every hour or two (or race) and I've never had a bearing failure. 8) 8)
