I need advice on an engine noise emitting from my 97 FE600E. It sounds like looseness, thats all. I don't know how else to explain it. It sounds like its coming from the cylinder/head area on the left side but the transmission on the right. This maybe just how they sound, but it may be getting a little louder too. I sounds like a rattle or clank and maybe even a double knock, but I'm not sure. It has about 8 hours on it total. I just performed the first valve adjustment and I'm running Mobil 1 15w-50. I know one must here it to make a determination, but I'm hoping this engine is known for something that I am not aware of. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Volvonut

I would recheck your valve adjustment first. Any abnormal metal in the oil and filters?

Just a very small particle or two, I have only an oil screen and a magnetic oil drain plug. The oil comes out a little metalic when I change it, which is every ride. But I have dismissed this as clutch material. I feel very good about the valve adjustment as I rechecked it several times before it went back together.

Thanks

I agree with berger, better recheck your valve clearences. Might have some bolts or nuts that might have worked loose. Just recheck everything to be on the safe side. Once you do that then you can narrow it down if it still makes a noise. Bergs are not a quiet engine anyway just takes some TLC.

Thank you! I will check the valve adjustment again. Will post results.

dude mine made a little noise before it stoped.
I found that the gear that the sprag goes into
had broken refer to my gallery for pics
I am very very :-({|= sad

I rechecked valve adjustment and everything good and nuts tight, I'm just gonna run it. If it lets loose....oh well.

volvonut;
i had a similar noise on my 98 fx600e. it got worse.
it was the big end of the rod.
lucky for me dezduster did the rebuild and all the leg work required [what a guy!]
i wish i would have stopped and torn the motor apart as soon as i heard the noise. maybe then i wouldnt have had to get a new rod but only the a new bearing.
tuts

Hey tuts, others,
Could you explain your sound and when it did it? I am still trying do determine if my noise is normal Husaberg stuff or something else. Any details would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
