Here's how I do mine,

And the only time I do this is if I have had a really tough ride or race on the clutch, and, or a lot of hours to where the oil has come out rather black.

1 Warm the bike up, with the old oil in it. If possible ride the bike around for 15 minutes.

2. Drain oil. After most all of the oil is out be sure and kick the bike over 10 or 15 times to blow the oil out of the bottom end.

3. Re fill with oil. I usually use Delo 400 for flushing, and Motul 5100 for my regular oil.

4. Run the motor for at least 5 minutes, if possible ride it around. I don't have the option at my "paddock" to ride it around, but while it's running on the stand with a box fan blowing on the radiators, I pull the clutch in, and let it out numerous times to try and flush out all the crap that is in there as well.

5. Drain oil again. Repeat steps 2 to 4 until oil comes out the same color as it went in.

6. Re fill with your regular oil of choice.

What about using something a bit more aggressive like a motor flush product, diesel fuel or a solvent? Oftentimes when pulling off the side cover there is quite a bit of sludge right below the clutch assembly.

thanks guys I was told that i needed to flush the motor due to a couple of non-ferious pieaces comming out the shifter side cover. bike locks when in gear moving forward but is ok moving backwards. somthing is stuck and needs to be flushed

Very respectfully,

Sounds like it needs to be dis assembled to the correct degree to determine where the locking is coming from.

Dale
i know man but, if you would like you can have the thing for a couple hundred dollars. dont let the motor fool you everything else is new ask Dan from motxotica, $900 worth of new parts and $200 in new ebay parts that have never seen the dirt. I just found out that Im retired as of the end of this month and i have to move

Hey mberg501
If the bits are so big that they're locking things up I'd be looking for the cause as Dale says.
At least take off the rocker cover and/or left sidecover and take a look at what's goin on in there.
Remember that bearings (well ...most of em) and gaskets are cheap.
When it stops with a bang it's gunna cost you $$$$.

there were no big pieaces that i found two of them way smaller than my pinky nail is all i found and it was no big bang and stop i dont get to ride much at all so i was only starting it up and about the fourth or fith kick it stoped. So i figure i will cut my loses and once i get get settled down in TX next month ill try to find a new bike

Sounds like a problem with the kick start mechanism.

What year and size bike is it?
