I just got my enduro eng. rad cages and will be ordering the factory fan kit in the next week or two. Will the oem fan kit fit with these braces on a 2010 fe450? anybody have this set up? The braces look like they are super strong but i dont see how i will fit a fan in there. Thanks for the help.

They worked on my 09 570 with a little massage (read carbide bit). I also used the 06-08 model fan kit....much cheaper.

I have a prototype EE rad brace at my shop right now that was designed to fit the rad fan. This will be available from EE very soon.

Yeah so they had to modify the factory fan kit to fit on the EE rad brace. That's why I prefer the Bullet Proof Designs rad guards. They work perfectly with the fan kit and you don't even have to remove the rad from the bike to install them.

I think most if not all mods were to the braces - drilling a hole here and there - and they didn't use some parts of the factory kit (I have those sitting right here). I just wanted to show that it could be done. Several people said it couldn't. Never say never.

I prefer these braces to the others I looked at because IMO they looked like they were stronger for the case where the bike was dropped on its side and the rads would get squished. I drop the bike from time to time (at least once or twice per ride). The plastic louvers on the front of the rads are enough to protect the rads from the odd rock/etc. that I rarely encounter.

YMMV

It actually will be a new design. The one they sent me is not 100% right and will be changed next week.

I think I've mentioned this before but I've both the EE braces and the Bullet Proof Designs rad guards and IMO the BPD are just as bit as strong as the EE braces for side impacts and I would challenge any buddy to prove otherwise. And unless you've had both you don't really have personal experence to say that the EE braces proved better side impact protection for when you drop your bike on it's side.
Not trying to offend anyone, just saying.

Plus you can still pearce a stick through your rad with the EE braces and I've seen that actually happen more then once.

Yeah, I said IMO (in my opinion).

I understand about the sticks, but I consider it somewhat unlikely, but certainly possible.

To each their own.

Certainly to each there own. I am only offering my option also. My option is based on having both the EE and BPD, but it is still just IMO. I also realize that the BPD are about twice the price so they might not be for everybody. But IMO they are worth every penny.

Cheers

Codemonkey - It looks like you drilled the EE braces so the fan kit can reach the mounting tabs? Seems like a simple mod that a garage modder with a drill and grinding wheel can take care of.

Forgive the stupid question - I am planning mods for a bike that has not arrived in my garage yet. The skid plate is here, the 70 Degree Racing Tank, Barkbusters, etc, but my '10 FE450 is still in transit

I like the EE braces - the price is nice and they look very strong to side impact.

Thanks!

I agree with you jbrown15, the BPD radiator gaurds are a better product, they are super strong to side impacts and also provide better protection to the front also.

It is very possible, my buddy pierced his radiator with a stick when he had the stock plastic pieces on and it cost him a motor rebuild and since he put the BPD gaurds on he has been trouble free. They do cost a little more but it only takes one stick to ruin the radiator and/or motor and then you will be paying a whole lot more than what the guards cost.
