Regarding the much discussed DOHC KTM 250 I would like to mention the Folan / Highland V Twin features DOHC design.

The Highland is nearly that of a twin cylinder Husaberg and I would not at all be surprised if said DOHC top end could not be adapted to an existing Husaberg lower end.

Of course the new Highland single is that of half the twin.

Best Regards,
Dale

Yes!, show us the pics, please, please...

There is a picture of a prototype single from Folan in my Gallery.

DOHC, fuel injected etc.....Nice

Thinking of which, KTM has a quite colourful range of engines with the RFS being a "Husaberg" derivative and the LC8 a Rotax/Aprilia~ and then they have the LC4 of course... (just mentioning their 4-strokes)
Highlander, using the same base for both singles and twins, must have an advantage here.

-LC8 50 kgs, "Husaberg" twin 35 kgs. Development?

Spale checkered.

Edit:
The KTM 250cc DOHC uses the somewhat unusual cam and finger rocker configuration. (Apfelbeck?) What about the Folan DOHC? Is it the common cam and bucket tappet configuration?
Does anyone know if any of these Highlander/Folan bikes are homologated anywhere? It would be a pity if you could not actually race them.

Shim under bucket direct acting DOHC.
Not legal to date.

Once my Dirttracker is complete I will make an appeal to AMA Pro Racing asking for a provisional waiver to enter the 950 V2 @ the National level.

One of my customers here in Las Vegas has an early Highland 950. It has a weird SEN stator that is adapted for fuel injection and it very much looks derived from the older Husaberg design.

 LOL
It is indeed an SEM stator and rotor ala Husaberg.

Is his Highland injected or carbureted?

The injected model has a forty-2 gear wheel with a reluctor pickup.
Said injected models run bloody awful for a variety of reasons.

I am nearly complete with my injected prototype. Said prototype is up and running, unfortunately it must fit in the stock chassis which forces one to use the poorly designed two-one inlet manifold with it's gigantic throttle body.

I have one of the manifolds mounted to the flow bench as I am typing.
In a word "Strange".

Pictures soon.

Hi Bruce,
Much gets posted on this site that need not be.

After careful consideration I am going to limit my future UHE posts to that of Husaberg technical.

In my opinion such will reduce the possibility of threads going wrong.

For social correspondence you are always welcome to phone or send email.

Sincerely,
Dale
