doing a rebuild on 99cc501 using 2000 cylinder and head timing chain is tight as a banjo spring. I was told these parts would interchange. chain is the proper length havent measured cylinder and head height yet. does the 2000 have same number of teeth on timing gear? bought head and cylinder of ebay same person assumed and told they were from the same bike. cylinder was painted like the 2000s were. also how much cylinder to head clearance should ther be?

if you still have the old parts (and we all should never throw away old parts), you can measure all the differences to see whats up. i would think its a late enough model that manufacturing differences would be minimal. something isn't right with the chain or its binding somewhere??? maybe you should remove the 12 base gaskets 8)
