The plastic coating on the edge of my flywheel is quickly falling apart. The magnets don't seem to be loose at all so I am guessing the plastic coating is just to seal moisture out? Any recommended product to replace the plastic coating and seal it back up (RTV, gorilla glue etc)? Thanks.

Hi Mogly,

No what is coming off is what bonds then in not just for keeping moisture out, they will in the near future come loose and could trash you stator, what you are seeing is a kind warning to say fix it or replace it.
RTV will have no impack on retaining the magnets. You could try a sustance called excuse my spelling Defcon it's a two part eppoxy the yamaha factory use it for filling in unwanted oil galleries when drilling crank cases. It bonds like you wouldn't believe.
On the other hand give these guys a call they have got numerous flywheels some new.
DCR's in the UK 0044 1772 612118 I spoke to Alex this morning and told me to post his tel number so if you want to call him he is aware of it.

Regards

Sparks.

Thanks Sparks! To keep costs down, I'm going to try and repair it with epoxy. For others in the same situation, both MSC and McMaster carry Devcon epoxies.
