Greetings,
I have been lurking on this site for a year or so and now I have finally joined the throng.

I have been lusting after the FE450 ever since I started to read about them a year or so ago. I wanted to be the first person a round here to own one when they were finally released last November. This was not to be.

Around Easter I was almost in a position to pick up the shops demo bike - well serviced and for a good saving over new. This was not to be.

Last Thursday I put my deposit down on the new 2010 model FE450. I will be getting the first one in stock - sometime in September. I have waited this long so I may as well wait a bit longer and get the slightly improved model.

I have my wish list of 'extras' that I want on the bike. Mostly protection and the new Safari tank when it comes out (already on order).

Will keep you posted when it finally arrives.

did they change much on the 2010's other than the tank lining and the low fuel light?

they changed the offset from 19 ? to 22 mm. Also, since there is the FX in teh lineup now, which has stiffer suspension, the FE will have softer boingers for your trail enjoyment. Since they are green sticker, the lights are now included.

that's all i know about

cheers

Thanks Fry, I have put a deposit on a 09 570, I should get it in a week or two

I was talking with my dealer yesterday looking at the *FX*450 and the FE390. One of the differences for some of the 2010s is the EFI - no probe on the exhaust and an improved EFI mapping. The other is the different offset angle - less twitchy - which is not a problem for me most of the time; I only notice it when I ride above 60 MPH or so on the street. I will probably be getting a damper which should help that, but that won't be the purpose of the damper - it will be for when I hit obstacles off-road.

I can't speak for the FE450, but there was no probe on the FE390 or the FX450. I don't recall if he said all bikes would not have the probe, but I got the impression that this was the direction Husaberg was going with the new models.

I wouldn't worry about it. I love my '09 FE570. Except for just a bit of hunting at really light loads and steady throttle on the street, I think the EFI is spot on. Most of the time I don't notice it, and I certainly don't notice it off-road.

I would think that it is quite possible that in the future the EFI mappings can be upgraded on the '09 such that you wouldn't need the probe.

that would be great if the new EFI updates would transfer to the 09's

no probe huh? that changes this allot

not to worry the O2 sensor was not utilized on teh 09 mapping anyway, they just reduced some manufacturing costs ( ? ) by omitting the sensor

Ya, the 09 works uber good except for that little hiccup that gets mentioned here and there. My buddy complained of it once, and I asked him what happens...he says " off throttle and rough ground". My only reply was....leave it WOT

I also believe that the already excellent suspension settings have been slightly revised.

The sensor is used when restricted due to the catalytic converter. Once de-restricted it's not in use anymore. Just remove it and put a suitable bolt in there.

Interesting considering there is no converter on the NA bikes.

What I don't understand is why the fuel milage is so low on these bikes.
My KTMs got 40+ so did my 04 650. I just assumed that they all would be in that range. Some might think that FI would increase milage. But it doesn't.

I need to correct my own post. Last Friday I picked up my 570. I didn't get twenty miles down the road before I unloaded and hit the trails. The milage that I got was very similar to what I was getting with my RFS motors, my 650 and my 530. I am very happy about that.

I suspect the O2 sensor helps in adjusting to altitude. The MAF (mass air flow) sensor can only do so much. Reading lambda values via the O2 sensor would make programming the feedback loop much easier.

Don't know for sure about the 'berg but I've just seen it done with other systems.

I've run my 2010 570 up to 11000 ft and as low as 5000 ft. There hasn't been any issues at RPMs.

I have had the motor die a number of times when I suddenly let off of the throttle then when the motor is just hitting idle speeds give it the gas again. This typically happens when I am coming into a G-out or something like that. I think that it might be the idle set to low or something like that. I haven't checked into it yet.

Other than that the bike runs great.
