44014,

Delo 400 is a Cheveron product and is comperable to the Shell Rotella T oil. They are both commonly used in desiel engines. Here in the states you can pick it up most anywhere, gas station, WalMart, or any other store that has more than 2 brands of oil.
The Delo and Rotella are between $5 USD and $6 USD a gallon. and should get you about 3-4 oil changes. At that price you can change the oil after every ride just for piece of mind and because you like to see oil drain while drinking beer and smelling gas fumes........

30 to 35 hours is way toooooo long, suprised you still have oil in the bike after those intervals. I believe Husaberg recommends 5 hr oil change intervals or maybe its 10. Anyway, for the most part, the consensus seems to be, "CHANGE IT OFTEN". For a $1.50 I change my oil after every ride........ My bike is worth every amount of care I can give it!

Sandskipper

I would change the oil every 5 hours and the filter
every 10.How many hours total on your bike?
You may qualify as some type of endurance record
for Husaberg.Total hours, oil change numbers and
any mechanical problems.Has the bike been good so
far?

ahh ok cool what kind of caltex as i will change the oil more often if the oil is cheaper .And as far as mechanical problems none whatsoever i have never even adjusted my tappets 8O . 5 hours i would have to stop half way through a ride to change my oil ....!the only time my oil was low was when i was using the bike on the road i was doing 1000km a week i checked the oil that weekend i did that for a month and and it used 1l of oil over that month other than that it no to bad might take 100 200 ml in between servicing.

cheers doug

(ps) i was going through 2 rear tyres a week whitch was worrying me more than the oil :p

My manual lists the FE engines having the oil and filter changed at 10 hours.

I bought the Scotts stainless steel oil filter.
Clean it with carb spray and your good to go.

If you not going to change your oil every ride, stick with the synthetic.
Motul is good stuff.
Synthetic oil's performance is more stabile and longer lasting than conventional oil.

Is your engine worth a couple extra dollars of protection?

?????????????????????????????????
Caltex Delo 400.

I change oil about every 250km and filter every 500km. The best place I have found for the filters is Ballards, A$9.50 ea or only A$7.50 ea if you buy them in lots of 10.
Ask for the "long" KTM oil filter. (02) 4731 1210.

what about when they do enduros with these bikes i mean my average ride consists of leaving at about 5:30 in the morning and not coming back until like 8 9 at night and i will do that about 3 times before i service it only time we stop is to refuel have a smoke or fix something on my mates ktm  and maybe if we feel like it have something to eat so probly riding about 12 , 13 hours every ride i only ride about once a month atm im hoping to do some enduros soon just trying to get my fitness up so yous are saying i should change my oil every ride at 20 dollars a litre plus 10 bucks a filter ....? :(

Enduros aren't a problem as they are typically 250-300km per day.

All the modern enduro bikes only hold about 1 litre of oil resulting in the short service interval.
I do the odd 2 or 3 day ride where its not practical to do an oil change but I wouldn't make a habbit of it.

How many k's do you do on your 13 hour rides?

usually between 300 400 km usually cant walk after for a couple of days :) well ok im going to try this delo stuff and change after every ride if dale sais it is good im willing to try it thanks for your help guys

cheers doug

oil?????`

The old "oil" question rears it's ugly head again, it seems to be the only subject where everyone and his dog has an opinion! I wish I got this much feedback with my question on mufler packing??
Well,,,,,,,,,,, I use Pennzoil 5w/50 fully synthetic and change it at aprox 3 rides (300kms) and the filter at aprox 500kms. I think alot of owners change the oil far to often just as peice of mind. I did the same with my WR250 fn and it still **** the g/box??
What about synthetic blend oils? Does anyone use them? They are still good oil and half the cost of full synthetic?

When I change the oil at 5 hours it definetly
does not look fresh any more.I use only full
sythetics, you get what you pay for.Since the
transmission shares the crankcase oil I use
20/50.I believe the gears need a higher viscosity
than the 5 or 10w multi oil.Although many will
differ I have put over 56,000 miles on a very
wild KZ1000 with no oil related failures.Any
one who knows me will tell you the bike has
not been babied.

oil?

I thought a 5w/50 weight would cover a wider range of applications than a 20w/50?? From lower viscosity to higher?
I dont know how cold it gets over there, but we ride here in 8/9 degree's C?

25x(No. of OIL CHANGES + 0.5x(No. FILTER CHANGES) + (No. TIMES U CHECK THE VALVE CLEARANCES)) = 1 / (MECHANICAL FAILURES PER ANNUM)

I'm still perfecting this function of failures for last year....

Anyone else got anything better ?

Lloyd

Well I found the Delo 400 at last. 5 litres cost the same as a single oil change in the past... :D
Sure hope you guys are right about this stuff as it is marketed for heavy duty diesels. Ah! I suppose the 650 berg has as much torque as your average farm tractor so it should be cool!

Cheers for now.
