It has been happening like a thick fog now for some time, you just plough on and get the job done but I recently fitted a sprucwe up kit to a dell orto 409mm carb and to get thew float arms right I had to bend them up.

I have noticed this before and not thought too much of it but a job this week confirmed it.

THE FUEL VALVES CAN COME WITH THE WRONG FIBRE WASHER!

two or three years ago we noticed that we were pulling out a red 1mm thick FVFW and so we wanted a 1mm to replace it. we went through a spell of getting 0.5mm beige/fawn coloured paper FVFW and they were wrong.

we called dell orto Uk and got them swopped for 1mm FVFW and all was good.

but now I see that the 38mm carb with the one-piece float valve (in white) wants a 1mm FVFW and the 40mm (all models except the 400) with the separate black floats wants around 0.6mm.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS OR YOUR BIKE MAY NOT RUN RIGHT OK?

Only just noticed this, but seeing as the carb is off the bike I have been out to check.Thought I may as well add this:
91 350FE/PHM38ZS
Float valve 200
Separate black floats 9794.1 3.5gr
1mm red fibre washer
The arms are straight, the bike has run fine on this setup, and it hasn't had anything done to the carb in a long time.

I don't know if this will help you or just make things worse.

are you sure it is a 200 fuel valve and not a 300?

thanks for the info!

Taffy
