Looks as I my have that crack that starts in the area of the rear/right mount on the engine at the swing arm. At this time only small of oil film forms over a 5 hr ride. This is not a problem for me, but is there a possible breakage that may happen in the future and if so is this repairable now before it gets worse?

A common problem on the 01's. If it gets worse you may want to have it welded.

Thanks Berger

I will have it welded and a gusset welded to the back area of the case.

Make sure it is done by someone who is good. That area is also a bearing area in side. I would think it is better done disassembled. I speak from experience. Mine was done by NMS in Reno and never another problem.

On the 400 of a friend the cases were welded when the engine was still together. But now it is open anyway due to the need for a new piston and nicasil
The weld as such was done very nice. The welder also said that at this point the material is very thin (which was know as it causes the crack to begin with)
