Hi,

Got a FE 550 2004 which has very smal copper / bronze scrapes in the oil. Engine has been rebuild recently, and rekluse has been installed about 2 hours (riding) before. Engine also made the wining noise, and clutch slave has been fixed recently.

From reading several topics i found 4 possible parts which might have a problem:
- Valve guides
- 3rd gear
- Crank nut
- Clutch slave

Got the clutch cover off, and found the crank had a little play from left to right. Also put the valve cover off and just found a few flakes. Is there an easy way to check if these parts are ok, or should i have a look at other parts first? Please point me in the right direction as i'm a little lost in all the information here at this moment.

I don't know how it works with the rekluse but if you still have the clutch slave spigot running inside the bronze bush thats fitted inside the gearbox input shaft it could be the source. thats where my bronze flakes were comming from.

if you remove the clutch slave you can see the little bronze bushing and replace it without taking the engine apart. OEM is steel with bronze bonded to it, mine was flaking off, new bush, no flakes.

Bushmechanic,

Thanks, you where spot on. To bad i didn't check this first. Just couldn't find this bushing in the partsmanual, still not.

Got the bushing today and fixed the bike, so hope the problem is gone now. Bushing had number H24009401 on the invoice and costs where 3.50 euro. Just for reference.

Hi. I started to get copper/bronze flakes in the oil and checked that bushing under the clutch slave. I found the problem, the whole bushing is almost gone and now i need new one, but where i can get that. I cant find any part number for this bushing (not sure about the number what is typed in upper post).
