cooling fan kit?

I got my kit from Off Road Boss.

I know a lot of people buy parts themselves and save a few bucks, but I would recommend getting the Husaberg factory kit.

My design concerns were:

airflow vs. current draw - wanted the best compromise between the two
wiring harness quality and compatibility with existing harness
robust mounting to the radiator
vibration and shock resistance of the fan motor
fluids compatibility and water resistance
electrical transients - I've seen too many expensive electronics parts blown by switching cooling fan motors off. I don't know what voltage the bike's system will handle, and if I bought an over the counter fan motor, I would not know what transient suppression was built in. This is something that requires a bit of testing, and I didn't care to risk my electricals for an experiment.

Furthermore, a sturdy fan made for an application like this cost $70 - 80 to begin with, so I wasn't going to save much by homebrewing.

I figured with the factory kit I would be getting the benefit of the husaberg design engineers' expertise, as well as saving myself a lot of time, and possibly a lot of future grief.

Oh, sorry, Boss doesn't ship overseas for the most part.

Look for a KTM or Husaberg dealer.

Mine too. Then I paid an extra 20 or 30 bucks for the BMW coolant temp sensor, but it works perfectly.

I just myself the KTM/Husb kit and have one question. Can i assume that the way its wired means it will switch itself off when the motor stops running? If its on when i want to switch off, is it worth leaving the motor running til the fan stops?

I have never had a fan on any offroad bike, but this 570 does seem to run a little hot.

No, do not run the motor until the fan stops. Just shut her down, the fan should shut off as well.

If the Fan is running when you switch the engine off it runs for about another 10seconds (Can't remember exactly how long) until the Power Relay turns off.

I drew a wiring diagramm for the fan in this post:

With the factory fan I have never seen the engine get hotter than 104C.
I agree with berger, "No, do not run the motor until the fan stops. Just shut her down"

Ive just come up with an idea for waterproofing a computer fan to cool the radiator .
I have a drum of paving sealant left so i know it repels water because it beads on the paving.
So i thought dip this 10dollar computer fan in it dry it out in the sun and see what happens .
Keep all you fellow tight ***** posted.

Good news waited for it to dry submersed it in water and put it onto a spare battery.
Works a treat so ill post some pics in the next few days cost 10dollars for computer fan,
5dollars for switch and 2dollars for some rubber mounts in between the fan and the radiator.

Got the computer fan mounted went for a ride works perfect cleaned my bike down as normal with high pressure cleaner turned the bike on still going perfect for those tight trails i assume it doesnt matter if its running the whole time when i switch the bike off it goes off.

Hi there, I am new in this Forum and recently I have bought my 2004 FS 650 Supermoto. Because I live in Mexico and wheather here is always warm, I need to get a Fun Kit (also because I use it for doble purpose). I have checked in OFF ROAD BOSS to acquire a fan kit for my Supermoto but the have only for ´06 model and higher. Anyone can help me were else I can buy the correct fun kit or does de ´06 model kit fits on my bike? Thanks in advance and my compliment for the Forum. Rgds, Davide.

:D Davide,They never made a oem fan kit for your year. You can however make 06-08 kit work on your year.

But like i said before you must purchase 06-08 tank & shrouds for the fan too fit.
