Out on track and the clutch starts slipping then gets hard to pull. Back in the pits and the lever goes soggy. Tried to bleed the system but the fluid (mineral oil, Motorex) disappeared into the engine so suspected the slave seal had failed and on inspection it had. When I swapped the engine just before the meeting I managed to squeeze the lever and popped the piston out! (I know, I know)
Question is did the piston jam due to not being square in the bore? (Only one O-ring!) Or did the lever pump up due to heat, air bubble expansion?
Clutch assembly is all good, just wondering why the lever went hard?
Give me a cable any day btw!

When attached to the engine the piston`s spogot is engaged in the gearbox shaft so it can not tip much.

On my last rebuild I replaced the clutch plates and springs, I expected
the springs being new would make the clutch harder to pull, but surprisingly
it was easier. You may just need new components.

Sorted, I think?
Think I probably got away with one.
Changed all seals in master cylinder and fitted new slave o-ring, cleaned everything and bled. Rock hard clutch! F*ck! Took the clutch cover off to check movement, none. The inner hub wasn't moving, it was locked solid, f*ck! Removed the plates and noticed a small piece of metal sat in the hub, the tab from the tab washer! The nut had loosened enough for one of the "half" washers to drop out! I put the plates back in and I could see that the last fibre plate could spin free of the cage when the clutch was disengaged. The clutch felt hard because it was at the end of it's travel, I pulled the clutch lever so hard I tore the slave seal.
Apart from a couple of clutch plates that have "cooked" everything else seems fine.
