Putting the clutch back together on my '04 FE450, and the pushrod didn't seem to want to sit flush. If i pushed it hard enough it would go in, and the master cylinder would gargle!

So I removed the slave cylinder, and the piston popped out, with a small spring inserted into the back of it. I've checked the parts list, and I can't see a spring in there.

I removed the spring, resembled, bled, and it works a treat. Although, I had no problems before removing the clutch in the first place!

So, my question is; is the spring there for a reason, or has a previous owner put the spring there as a mod of some kind?

Apologies for no photos, but I just wanted to get it back together again!

I've always found the spring in there. it is meant to make the clutch ready to fire. if the piston wants to wander away it could (except for the friction)

regards

Taffy
