I have an 06 fe-650. The clutch creeps a little when cold, the bike only has 7 hours on it . On my last ride I noticed a squeel when taking off on a hill. Should I bleed the hydraulic system? Change oil brand? Will probably contact dealer tomorrrow to seek his input. My 2001 never had any clutch prob and I know these clutches are stout so what do you think.

i put it up to someone recently that they had a warped plate. they checked and i was right. your call.

good luck!

regards

Taffy

Thanks for your input. I think I will consult with my dealer before doing anything to it but I will mention the warped plate theory to him when I talk to him

What brand/weight oil are you using?

I have read it's somewhat common for bergs to squeel a bit when pushed.
Mine does from time to time too.

Right now it has Redlin 10/40 in it . The engine was at operating temperature and the squeel was rather loud , this worries me. the bike is awesome other than this so I am hoping its just a minor prob.

I have of a 2004 FE550 that I bought brand new in October of last year and I have the same squealing problem form time to time when I let out my clutch. I'm having the dealer look at it this week.I've aso developed a vibration and some large metallic particatls that I can't recall as being normal.I also change my oil every 3 to 4 hours. When I get some infofrom the dealer i'll let everyone know.

This keeps cropping up !
In my case, the first clutch plate and cork in the assembly had stuck together and weren't spinning freely. ..
I swapped them over with others in the assembly and cleaned them.
100 % cure

Hope it works for you

Ady

Wooleyberger and Hankster, do either of you have any news on the clutch squealing problem? I have an 06 550 that started doing it on the second ride and it seems to be happening more frequently the more I ride it.

Thanks, Jim
