Clutch Problem

I have noticed in my last couple of races that my bike wont start on the button when it is in gear. mainly at the start of the race,I have to put it in neutral to start it,Do i need a new clutch.

Your clutch is dragging just enough to slow the starter down so the engine won't start.

for a 100% cure you need to buy a new clutch basket then all will be ok for at least a coupla seasons.

an absolute doddle. simply remove the sidecover and then the 6 screws to the clutch. pull the whole clutch drum and plates off by using your fingers through the gaps of the basket. remove the circlip in the middle with the correct circlip pliers and then change the drum. then reverse the order. a doddle i asure you. just make sure you have circlip pliers otherwise it's a doddle.

BTW i said the clutch basket in the previous post when i meant the drum.

just to clarify.

the basket is made of steel i think and as tough as old boots whilst the centre of the clutch-the drum-is aluminium and takes all the ****.

it's the clutch drum-the centre bit in aluminium-that you need to order. NOT THE BASKET.

this will cure your problem.
