Hi all,
I've got a 2002 FC550 that I just acquired last fall and I'm fixing up some of the minor annoyances that previous owner(s) have ignored. The final thing bothering me is the clutch lever, it's a Magura hydraulic clutch which I believe was standard. I bought a KTM lever to replace the broken one that was on it... and there is nothing to prevent the lever from overextending (away from the handlebars) which allows the plunger to disengage from the master cylinder and I have to line it up to put it back together. I purchased what I thought was a return spring that goes in between the master cylinder and a detent in the lever, but it doesn't really prevent it from disengaging.
How is this thing supposed to work? The replacement lever is exactly the same as the one I originally removed. It works fine otherwise. Is there a mechanical stop? Some other spring or mechansim that I'm missing? I looked at a friends new KTM 450 and while his lever looks identical, it seems that the master cylinder is somehow different and the lever cannot move too far backwards.
Any suggestions?
