Hi bergers :) i need a new clutch and also the sprag cos its not engaging when the engine is cold. Its fine when the motor has warmed up. So i was wondering if i need any special tools to do the job in hand :?:
Cheers

On my -02 it was very straight forward and easy.

Download the workshop manual from Husaberg.se. There you have the manual for 01-03 and 04. For 01-03 and earlier you also find the manuals in the download section at this forum. The -04 manual is very good since it tells you how to service each part of the bike.

Thanks. Will try and find the service manual tomorrow, its in the shed somewhere :? . And yes mine is also an 02 470

no special tools required scoot. you'll do fine!

that 53 cam is excellent BTW!

what did you replace it with?

Taffy

Hi Taffy, the 53 cam came out of the 02 650 i had before the 470. The 470 has a 51 cam in it, i posted some queries on the pair of them and Dale said the difference was so slight it wasn't worth changing the 51 for the 53. I bled the cluch yesterday, and by jove  its so much more clutchy :D So its just the damn spag that need replacing cos its not catching on the starter from cold. Hot no problem, its not slipping at all.

yep no clever answers with that sprague i'm afraid. i've just put the kickstart back on ready to sell and it was needed a lot last sunday.

the whole electric boot needs looking at. the japs would be apoplectic, honda just wouldn't be able to put their head around it.

regards

Taffy

Hey Scoot, I'm not so sure I would even bother replacing the sprague if it works fine hot. Just kick it to life when cold then use the button the rest of the ride unless you've removed the kick lever as Taffy has done. I'm sure many Husaberg riders would agree with me on this as it is a bit too much stress on a cold motor for the sprague clutch to hold up even upon replacement. The 400 seems to be much easier on the sprague than the bigger bores.

Would agree with not doing the sprague, it lasted a good 2 years before slipping. I'll di it when i give the motor an overhaul of new spinny bits :)
