Hi, new to Husabergs and new to the forum. I have a 2010 FE390. The previous owner has installed a rekluse clutch which includes the rekluse basket, and I'm trying to remove it. (I know...I know... but I like the technical side of clutching and riding).

Problem is that I'm trying to remove the clutch basket/hub nut on the primary gear. I don't have the husa tool (basket clamp-clutch holder or the gear segment tool). The manual tells me this is a LEFT handed thread. I have the back wheel braced with an aluminum bar through the rear wheel sprocket and braced carefully against the underside of the swing arm without touching any spokes... Still cant shift the bolt with my 27mm socket and extension handle.

I'm afraid to use an impact bit or whack with a hammer for obvious reasons (it's akin to wife abuse!).

IS THIS NUT A LEFT HAND THREAD? Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the removal of this nut (the bike, not me).

And yes, the complete Rekluse will be for sale (2 months light use) if this is successful.

Cheers Paul

Thanks for that. Looks like it is a left hand thread. Local guys at the Suzi shop (Mile Zero) have offered some help with tools and such. Great guys. Apparently the nut should pop of in neutral with an impact wrench. Best not crank on it with it in gear and the back wheel locked...all that pressure on one tooth.

Ride it with the Rekluse for a few hours before you get rid of it. You might really like it. Motion pro makes a clutch basket tool to hold the basket. It should come off with an impact but I don't think it will if the bike is in neutral. Try neutral first though.

tightly wrapping a rag around the inner basket helps while using the impact driver

these tools work nicely as well if you take some time to carefully shape the ends

your diplomacy is outstanding (being apologetic) IMHO an auto clutch belongs in the bin. There was a thread "rekluse for dummies" on another site .. very appropriate title :D

Guess what? Turns out the 2009 FE manual is wrong, at least for my 2010 FE390. The thread was a traditional right handed thread, not, as clearly stated in the 2009 manual, a left hand thread. I ran my nail down the exposed threads and found that by turning counter clockwise my nail was ejected from the nut. Man, I cringe at the strain I put the gearbox under with the huge lever bar I used to try to "loosen" the nut. I just decided this was ridiculous, grabbed a an impact gun, and tried left one more time. Nothing. Tried the other direction and voila. Spun off a treat. Hopefully no damage done.

Anyone else had this issue?

FWIW,

If you look in the spare engine parts manual you will always find the part and it will note thread size/pitch and direction.
