Hi all,
Just obtained a converted 02 550FC to supermoto. My gripe is that the lights are running off of the alternator which is fine up until the bike stalls in the dark. The wiring used to make the conversion looks pretty much identical to the ones from the FE or FS bikes.
Been thinking of converting the wiring to run the lights off the battery, however when I measured the voltage across the battery while it was running, it was saying only 12.2V. Seems to me that the battery is thus not on a loop that comes from the regulator. It seems to be in fact a total loss system. Looking at the wiring diagram I have of the FE-FS, the only live and regulated connection I can see is in the ignition switch which I assume switches between the red/black to the DC current on the red/white cables. I should delve a bit into the wiring around the starter relay but my guess is that when it was converted, a connection was not made on the red/black to red cable.
I also noticed that on the back of the voltage regulator, the yellow cable was stuck in the left most pin. On the wiring diagram it shows it between the rd/white and brown cables. Would this have anything to do with my battery not being charged?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
George
