Chain Wear

Hi,

Out riding the other day I met a bloke on a berg who told me the bikes are notorious for wearing out the split pins as they rub against the lower chain guard. I noticed some wear on the outside of the chain as if it is rubbing against something, and took his advice and lowered the chain guard to the top most hole.

Was he right?

I have found the pins on the chain wear on the frame. I have used a small rubber plate mounted to the frame at the area of wear. The rubber was from Texas Rubber Supply and was used in paper punch press.

I have noticed the same thing. When the bike is not under load say coasting I hear a click once everytime the chain goes around once. Traced the noise to the master link brushing against the lower chain guard. Might be rubbing else where as well but that one place I don`t know exactly how to fix. Any ideas? Thanks.

Replace the master link with a rivet link
