08 FE450, not sure about the length of the chain I have at them moment but it's not long enough (I'm not sure if how many links it has)

What length do I need? any recommendations. X ring or O ring?

Thanks

You need two links longer than you currently have.

An X-ring chain is much better than an O-ring at keeping **** out of the chain and keeping the lube in. But both are much, much better than an unringed chain. Get a heavy duty chain with 5.2mm pins and sideplates at least 2.2mm thick.

Thanks Greg

I ended up getting the Protaper Xrc chain (X-ring). 120 links and had to cut 1 off.

btw

Can I use a regular o-ring master link as an emergency?

The pin diameter is key. If they are both within a gnat's whisker the same, you'll be okay.

118 is what you need but then you just did the maths!
