Hello again,
I bought a 2nd hand '02 FE400 from the UK, which while described as in excellent working condition appears to have many faults and made bad noises when I had it running for 5".. Well I guess that's eBay for you!
Camchain, camchain slide, valves, seats, piston rings (if not piston too), etc etc
Now however I've found a problem with the casing, one that has come across this forum again. Please see the picture attached (copied from anoter post), the cup -pointed by a red arrow- that holds one end of the kickstater shaft was cracked in 4 pieces and is part of the casing. It had been "repaired" by the ex owner by epoxying all the broken aluminium bits together and sliding a brass ring around it. Nice.. only it can break off any time!
I'd like to fix this properly by taking it to a welder/machinist. I just need to know the inner diameter of the cup from a healthy casing.
I guess we will have to machine an aluminium cylinder of same size and weld it onto the casing once we remove the old stuff..
Cheers
Nikos
