I have found a good engineering company that will make me rods at an acceptable price to both me, and you, the end user. I'm talking about the 501 and the 600 motors198? to 2000. oddly enough he has a real problem getting pins and bearings for the 30mm big end of the old bikes. so not only would i like to know a good source for 30mm big end bearings (he seems to think pins would be 'OK') but indeed whether any of you, off the bat, know that you'd take a rod kit from me?

with little end bushes fitted they would work out at £250 each complete.

Taffy

so there is nobody with a 1988-2000 that might need a rod kit?

yeh right!

WABOFW.

Taffy

WABOFW is not a very nice way of attracting orders taff. Just a thought.

Please excuse my ignorance here, but WTF does WABOFW mean? :? :?

If I needed rod kit for my 98 501, then I'd be keen, but so far, its fine, and it doesn't get much use these days. Might need one next week, or in 5 years, dunno.

thanks steve

I know that for a small business i could make it worth my while in the long run but it would be so nice to see the first few kits out the door so that you can get some kind of immediate return.

thing is, they'll all be bitchin when everyone wakes up to the fact that they aren't made anymore and nothing cross references either.

Hey Taffy,
Maybe if you were to contact a few dealers like Motoxotica, BOSS, Dave Clarke etc. and asking them politely if they'd be interested you might get a positive response. Or you could always contact them and call them "phucking ******s". That might work.
Also, you might have titled the thread more appropriately.
89' thru 2000 rod kits, please help!

hold it, hold it! you're saying i should call dealers FW?

give it a rest and wash your mouth out. If you can't say anything good then don't say anything.

You're quite the savvy businessman aren't you?
Carry on............

Agreed.
If this thread had a proper title it would attract people who are searching a con-rod kit for a 89-2000 bike.

Initially, I didn't hold out a lot of hope for this thread but I must say that I'm very happy with the direction it's taking. I would however like to see either more pot/kettle action or a picture of a dwarf dressed as a Hell's Angel. Either one as I'm fairly easy-going.

thanks,

If you can't find a picture of a dwarf dressed as a Hell's Angel can someone post a picture of Taffy? That man is one funny phucker :)

Fantastically handsome specimen on the bike. The man on the left is our ned37, the only one cool enough to talk to taff at the ride without a welding helmet on.

Check the Force Ride '07 gallery for more pics of this sexy bastage.

A long long time ago in a city far far away (Perth) there was a kids television show featuring a lion named Taffy could this be the same man??

Classic photos. This post has degenerated enough that it needs a voting button up the top "Who would you most likely trust to buy a 1998~2000 Husaberg rod kit off?" :)
1. Taffmeister (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Taffmeisters-01353-723883)
2. Taffy the Lion
3. Ned37

It needs to be an anonymous voting button, Taffy is not one to be messed with.

Taffy,
I've got a couple questions...
1. Do all of the 1st generation Husabergs have the same length and big end diameter connecting rods?
2. Did you ever get any made?

My 91 FC499 finally started to Yamaknock and I'll need a replacement somehow, some way. My 96 FE501E is still running strong though. I'd like to get the 499 running again though as she's a bit quicker and still brings a smile to many of my YZ450F riding buddys' faces.
Thanks,
Al
