ok after last weeks break down i am getting to the bottom of things but still need some answers
when i turn the fuel on it is filling the bowl; and the needle valve works ok BUT fuel is flooding into the air box via the small hole at the bottom centre of the carb
now i don't know wot this hole is for so i carnt locate the problems ,ie is something causing the fuel to go the wrong way? ect don't want to remove the carb if i can getaway cleaning while in bike .
can any body advise me on this as it is doing my head in

Sounds to me like your float in the carby is stuck open and does not close the needle valve at the appropriate level. So whats happening is the fuel keeps filling the bowl and then starts to come up into the carb and then flows to the lowest point.... the air box. I would take a look at your float to make sure it is not binding and getting stuck in the open position. As the fuel level starts to come up inside the bowl the float should close the fuel inlet and then reopen as the fuel level drops, it does not appear to be working on your carb.

agreed

float stuck open. remove the carb and check the valve for what is wrong. check the float is in good condition as well. you really need to check the dell orto manual.
