I say Hoose-ah-berg. A friend says Huss (as in rhymes with bus)-a-berg.

Hoose-ah-berg or Huss-a-berg, what say YOU?

funny thing is you are concentrating on getting the wrong end of husaberg right.

In swedish, all words ending in -g, treat the g as something between silent and -yi.
For example, they don't say "burger" (berger) but they say "boor-yer"

I bet this adds to the confusion lol

when I first new of the Husaberg and as I bought my first one some ten years ago next month: they were called Bergs but I've always thought that was a bit harsh to say that and I've stuck to hoosey. I rarely see folk say Berg now, rarely see hoosey either come to that!!!

Just because the Swedes say oosaberj doesn't mean that it is right of course. generally things have been known by what we 'english' think we'll call it. the americans have changed any new word invented in the last 200 years to suit themselves as well!

I can't see it being anything but a strong H and a strong G. as for the hussa or hoosa well that is a hard one! over here in the UK it is always Hoosa.

regards

Taffy

Good post :D

I say husa berg Others say hoosaberg I like husaberg. I call it Berg most of the time or else Hussy.

The way the name is pronounced in Swedish:

H : its not silent
U : its not "O", its more like a "flat U-sound" compared to the english version of U....
S
A : A sounds like the A in America
B
E : Same sound as in "Elk"
R
G : quote:"In swedish, all words ending in -g, treat the g as something between silent and -yi".

I hope it makes sense... Explaining phonetics is not my strong side haha! Its for sure no "O" or silent "H" in it.

Its named by a swede and the name of the bike is taken from the Husaberg peninsula in Sweden.

Husa berg or Berg for me.............after all they are related to Huskies or is that Whoooskies!
