So I got a cam chain, and valve rocker arms, and a local engine guy is doing the work. He's very experienced with ktm, but not so with husaberg. Apparently on some ktm's it's necessary to remove the head to replace the cam chain. Is that so on the berg? Anyone got a link to a quick outline of the procedure to replace the cam chain?

I woulda done it myself except i'm too dumb to work on 4strokes and i don't have a tool to put the new cam chain together, or the confidence to trust my attempt at rigging something up, lol.

i'm not pissing but he really should have no trouble swopping a cam chain without instructions at all. it's a mechanics birthright to do one and all.

just break the old one, feed the new one on, pull it round and put the link in. just pick up some index marks whether he maykes them or finds them. it's an ABC.

for a 550 it's 66L and for a 650 it's 70L so he can truct it as he goes in....

regards

Taffy

Why are you replacing it ?

prophylaxis. the bike has 5500 or so hard offroad miles on it, and when i last checked, it only had 2 more clicks on the adjuster. also replacing the valve rocker arm gizmos.

gizmos should last the life of the bike
