Hi all, I have read through few posts but not found what I'm after..

I have a 01 650 engine, full rebuild is in the finishing stages.

I have a Ali cam sprocket in good condition. New iwis chain, new modified 04-08 cct blade, and original cct.

When I install my blade, then install my tensioner housing, I then insert he spring and locking bolt into the tensioner. Let it do its thing and then remove it to count clicks.
I have 16 clicks total to use, and with the new chain and new blade. In using 12 up already! Leaving me with only 4 clicks remaining until I max out.

Reading other posts about it some are using 5 clicks, and some it uses none, I can't work out how I am using 12 with new parts!

It's almost like the chain is to long? As it's already very close to the water channel and I can see evidence that it has rubbed in the past. But it's new and correct for my bike.

Scratching my head as to how I can solve this, my old cct blade turns out to be a 400-501 04-08 item, which doesn't make it any better.

Any suggestions would be appreciated please.

Thanks

Pics, tensioner at the adjusted length.

Cct blades. Top is my old one. Bottom new modified later 650 one.

And last pic is the evidence of previous chain contact on the gallery.

Try a different chain. DiD is the longest one

Iwis in the middle and Regina the shortest.

Only went with the iwis as I'm my opinion it's the highest quality. Didn't really want to run a Regina, but will get one to test fit and see
Thanks

you're only showing 12 clickers there Spud-u-lika!

a good one should have 16 showing. suggest also the bent CCTB I sent you photos of.

Yeah that was a pic of the tensioner at its adjusted length, so it had 4 more clicks left.
Tensioner itself is working well.

I heated and bent the cctb as per your pics mate, worked a treat.

I managed to bend it high up the blade, so it helps with moving the lower part of the chain away from the coolant gallery too.

I'm happy with the outcome. Get to keep a good chain and only using about 6/7 clicks now [emoji106]

A few pics. Bent blade is on the left. Not much, but just enough without being to brutal.

Cheers guys. Now onto the next problem with rear axle block adjusters! [emoji23]
