ok to tension the camchain do u just release the 10mm at rear of cylinder and re tighten or is there more to it than that ? ie put in gear and turn motor over by hand using rear wheel ect ?, seems a bit noise & got a bit of aluminum bits in tampon filter little bit of metal on sump plug very fine particles sorry ive got a 501 /03 thanks for any help
thank god for spell check

the camchain adj mech is automatic ratchet type. first step would be to pull it out after removing the center bolt and spring and see how far out the plunger is. also note condition of plunger tip. release the lock underneath and push all the way back in to see if moves freely. if its about 75% or more extended, you should do some chain maint / replacement. your aluminum bits are prolly trying to tell you that already.

ned

thank you for help removed & checked got about 8mm -- 1/3 of adjuster still in ratchet any opinions on replacment ie immediately or be ok for a bit longer is there a link on hear 4 said replacment im rubbish at nav around site

L plates by name and L plates by nature!

i think you have about 35 teeth on the ratchet. if over 2/3rd's i would replace. go into the doc and check out all the hassles there. if you have newer than '03 you will be ok. in doc i think it's under red alert...

look for the latest of everythging. stirrup, tensioner can be modified, chain.

Taffy
