Can any one answer me this question on my 05 650 the cam bearings are closed case bearings(meaning they still have the plastic sides on why :?: ) am putting new ones in at the moment and wondering can i remove these and rely on the oil from the cam chain to lubricate these. a nice detailed explanation would be nice thanks.

I don't really have detailed explanation, but I can tell you that engine oil gets by the seals without problem and keeps the bearings well lubricated.

KTM and Husaberg switched to this style of bearing in 2002 for the cam bearings and they work very well.

I wouldn't change something that doesn't need changing.

RE: Re: cam bearings

pull the inner seals out is how they used to be so they kept the oil splashing about in the top.
