It should be really nice for that amount. But they usually are. I paid $ 1600 for my '96 FE400. I would have gladly paid a bit more if it were an electric start and a couple years newer and equivalent condition. But since joining this website, I have seen some newer and revised machines go for some real deals. If there is documentation of the work done to the bike to insure its apparent good shape, then I would say yeah, its worth it. Maybe some more research is in order first...asking some of the fellows here if they were acquainted or not... Good times!

Check the classifieds here there is a 2000 fe501 in Motrose, CO for $3250.00 I know the bike and the owner. It is an E start and is in IMMPECABLE condition. Ask buzzard it's his buddy's bike and Brett is certifiable when it comes to "loving" on a bike. If interested I might be able to give it a lift to Phoenix for you.

I'll second that Brett's bike is very nice. I rode with him 1/2 a day at Moab and camped right next to him the whole time as well. That 501 is dialed in, clean, and ready to ride.

hey,
will you guys be still :x . its my fe400e he's buying. picking it up tomorrow, and the money i haven't got yet is already spent on bergdude's 450. besides, you won't find a lower hour, still has all the original stickers, reliable 98 on the planet 8)

ned looking at your bike you have the same chain guide as i just bought. did yours bolt right up or did you have to make a braket to attach it to the swingarm

mberg,
i assume you are talking about the fe400, since the fe400e has the stock tensioner. i don't remember who made the guide, but it bolts to the same 2 mounting spots that hold the stock one.

yea thats the one take a look at my gallery ill put a pic of the thing in it and the ol stock one
