Yesterday I finally got out and rode some of the trails at Brown Mt. I took my TTR-230 since I don`t trust my left leg to hold up for long if I took my berg. What I discovered was with parts of trail 1 most of the trails are tight so sheer speed wasn`t in the cards, well not for me anyway. Most of the trails were very good with places that will get you if not paying attention. The trails rode were 1,4 , 8. Trail 4 has some very large rock ledges to get over but wasn`t all that bad. Its a one way trail so you can`t go back so we didn`t. Trail 1 has some very high water breaks so that is nice but the trail is 2 way so keep your speed down. Up on top of the Mt. on trail 1 you ride across a single large flat rock for I guess 5 to 600 feet. Part is fairly smooth but the other part is very pitted or might burst a tire or go over the bars. The surface is a mixture of clay, sand that has a gilt of mica in it. Witch is more than a little slick. Throw in some big rocks and a mud hole or 2 and that gives you a idea what it looks like. There some very steep places as well. I think Brown Mt. is a good place to ride. The price $5 a day or $30 for a season is I think a good deal.

Brown Mt. is close to Morganton, NC. Hve you ever heard of the Brown MT. lights? The rock sectoin is on trail 4 witch looks like a rock face going all the way across the trail. I guess at its highest proably 20-30 high but when dry no problem but might be a little interesting if wet. I saw only one mudhole there witch was on the trail. The other parts I will let you know when I get there. Still prowling it out.
Let me know any more questions.
Take care

Had a friend living in Ashville in 2000, we went to Brown Mountain for a day, lots of fun, That flat rock was pretty cool, and steeper than you think! Some great trails!
