I didn't know they had that type of racing in the UK. Dumbest looking cars made IMO.
Good racing though.

Ghetto sprint cars ? If they drive on the wrong side of the road over there, why are they turning left instead of right ? At least a few of them knew how to ride the cushon.

it's 21 years ago boys -take it easy! there didn't sseem a lot of point in aerofoils when the car weighed a minimum of 1.5 imperial tons and had a ford transit front and a GPO van rear axle.

the idea is that all saloon racing goes the other way so the driver is away from the fence. quite how the single seqaters ever started by going left i don't know but they did, like all classes start as saloons as well.

i took an airforce mechanic from rapid city named jim to watch and he was totally non-plussed. he prefered big budget CF and speed. fair enough.

for us though it's all about watching the 'star grade' drivers work their way from the back in every race (anyone else do that? bet they don't in the USA for sure) and the rivalry and grudges that go on as displayed in the video you just watched.

BUT WE HAVE NOTHING ON NZ RACING. THEY ACTUALLY CUT OUT THE RACING AND TRY TO KILL EACH OTHER. PLEASE GO BACK AND SPOT THE NZ STUFF. IT IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE - AND ALL THAT FROM QUITE A SENSIBLE COUNTRY....!!!! do throw some more in lads as i'm interested in your 'outsiders' views.

regards

Taffy

28 years ago I was watching Little Al Unser race non-winged sprint cars at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ. Highest power to weight ratio in all of racing. That's where the "real" slide jobs were done. took my boy to watch un-winged sprinters a couple of weeks ago at Aztec, NM raceway, now he wants to race a hobby stock ! His mom is gonna kill me........
