I just picked up a 05 FE 550, bike had only 26 hours and picked it up cheap. but I'm having a few issues though.

Bike seams to run lean, gets hot in slow tight woods sections. i ride avg at 3500 feet above sea level . i'm in the process of installing a JD Jet kit so i hope this goes away.

Also i get oil in the airbox from the breather. this seams like a poor design does anyone make a in line check valve that would prevent this or does someone have the hot set up for this.

I ride with a bunch of KTM guys and they give me a lot of greif for selling mine to try out the Berg. i hope i made the right decision.

Thanks

As far as the heat issue, Maybe you could high heat coat the exaust? I have spoken with 5 people so far, and all love it.
I am trying it on my bike now.
If you want, I can coat it for you at a reasonable price. Let me know. b.t.w. coating inside and out is good to 2200 degrees.

You might want to try disconnecting the breather tube connection to the air box and just run a hose down to below the skid plate. I have that on mine.

On the overheating, I added an overflow bottle to the system and that helps alot to avoid coolant loss. But the best thing is to just ride faster to keep the bike cool and beat out those kool aid machines. I had the same problem too but after riding the bike and trusting it I go much faster now and no overheating :D
