Hi folks, I recently bought a replacement Brembo brake light switch (little micro-switch that fits under the master cylinder body on the handle bar to activate tail light).

However, after fitting it I've noticed that the rear light is on permanently. I unbolted the switch from the handle bar & pressed the little switch in & out, and it appears that the light goes OFF when the button is in?? So I thought that it was wired wrong, so swapped the connectors over, still the same??

Has anyone had this problem? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

Crispin

Just want to pop this back on the front page one more time in case anyone might know what the problem is?

Thanks

Crispin

Crispin, If the switch works correctly when you push it in by hand then the brake lever can't be pushing it in properly, check it all lines up properly and that the lever is pushing it in far enough.

good luck Carl

if its like im thinking then its meant to be off when the button is in and on when the button is out. cos when the end of thelever presses against the button, when your not braking. then when you brake the end of the lever comes off the button and switches the light on.

if its working right by hand is the end of teh lever hitting the button properly.

i've just realised i've said the same as PB just in x3 as many words. oops

hey thanks guys, that did the trick!! With new enthusiasm & a sense of purpose after your posts, I reattempted the fitment.

After a few minutes, STILL? not working???? I took another careful look in the plastic box that the bits came in, and there hidden in a corner was a tiny little plastic bit.

This fits inside a small hole in the underside of the manifold & makes the connection between the lever inside & the switch on the outside, without it I would NEVER have got it working!!! so thanks again! road legal once more!!

Cheers

Crispin

nice one Crispin..... i take it your shoulder is all healed now and ready for some track action.

oooooohhhhhh yeah!! give me sunshine, don't give me rain, & I'm back out on track for more bone breaking pain!!!

I had the same problem i just messed around with the angle a bit while doing up the two small screws it seem to be a slight adjustment and it works. By the way if you ever have to buy a micro switch buy a ducati one its only about 2/3 of the price.

I know this is an old post, but which Ducati or brembo micro switch is it. I'm in need of one for my 11 FE and From husaberg its 60 bucks and I would like to find a reasonable option. Any help would be appreciated!

I do not know the switch, but I needed to replace a microswitch a while back in my computer mouse. If you find it, search the part number on ebay. I got a bag of 10 microswitches for about $10 (shipped from China). Having extras on hand could be useful to send out to anyone in the community who needs one.

All this based on the assumption that it is a simple, common switch.

I've found it cheaper and effective to use hydraulic switches. Doesn't seem to effect lever travel, and works for front and rear.

Got some of these on a few bikes now:

as steve says, I get customers of the 2000-2008s to put a REAR brake switch on the front. 11 quid here against 30-40 or whatever for the front switch....

I do not recommend these hydraulic switches on the front brake.
They are very defective and very easy to demage after bike fail!
I had two.
One began to leak.
The second is broke after bike fail.
This is a very dangerous situation when your fornt brake does not work.

After that I do something like this. It does not look beautiful, but it works and is safe!
