I hate to say it guys, but my berg is officially for sale. Im just a bit tired of the dirt bike thing, and I flat out cant afford this bike (or any bike) right now. so far i havent had any luck selling it so you guys might be stuck with me.

PS I still have graphics for sale.

Throw some street tires on it and motard it. It is totally addictive if you like street or dirt. :D

thats big money there, i cant afford the bike payment and if it were street legal im sure my insurance on it would go up. i already pay $758 a year, damn near as much as my truck.

whats happening is since we started this shop, dirt bikes are just like any other job to me now, you get tired of it and its the last thing you want to do when you go home.

dave

you sound to be on a bit of a downer at present. you've chucked yourself at a few things lately like the autoclutch, tall seat and the graphics and you don't make your living from those things.

take it easy mate. make your living and keep the bike. i bet you don't sell it and you keep going just fine.

aaah! there's your problem-your not riding enough?

Whatever you do, don't open a *** toy shop! :p

I took the berg on a road-only ride last Sunday & probably enjoyed it more than I have dirt for a while. I've never ridden a motarded dirt bike. Are the motard mods worth the money &/or work? I'd consider it if anyone knows of ex road bike wheels that would fit.

well it would be nice to just keep the bike, but it costs me money even with it just sitting. my interests have shifted right now and i want to spend what little money i do have to spend on those things. i cant see spending it on a bike that i dont even ride. I honestly dont remember the last time i went on a ride with the bike.

I really need to get rid of the bike payment so that i can move closer to our shop. right now i commute 96 miles everyday, and I dont drive a honda civic either. i have a gas guzzling Ford Lightning, ive had the truck since january of this year and have already put 14000 miles on it. i ran the numbers and i spend more on gas per year than the truck payments add up to.

Cripes dave! That vehicle type & usage complies with The American Way! :2gunfire:

I guess I'm in the same boat with hardlly using either the berg or the jetski and paying rego, licence, finance etc etc etc costs. :( I justify it to myself by saying it is worth something to be able to walk past them every day in the garage & tell myself I could go for a ride if I wanted to.

I am with the motard suggestion... my 01 501 has probably been the most fun I've had on two wheels. I commute several times a week on it and cost per mile has been minimal outside of initial set-up. Insurance is $78 a year through Progressive, fuel consumption is nominal and the motor has been perfectly reliable for almost 3000 miles (outside of updated rockers and various small oil leaks). Most importantly, one long wheelie on the way to work is all it takes to make the trivial daily annoyances evaporate.

motard the sucker.

ive ridden dirtbikes and owned cruisers, supersports sport standards...NOTHING compares to my 400 tard. its a 400, freeway capeability isnt that great, but i just rode 40 mins on the freeway without an issue...not that bad....plus, once u get out on the weekend, its the most awesome carving tool EVER

Dave is that 96 miles one way?
You don't have to Motard your Husaberg to ride it to work. Just a set of street legal tires and you have it made.
You make it sound like you have a motorcycle based business. If this is true put a few parts on that you sell/make and you have a rolling show case/a moving billboard....a business write-off if I've ever heard of one.
Good luck in what ever you decide ( I had to buy a small car to afford the 90 miles a day I drive so I know where you're coming from).

I agree with husafreek, put some business stickers on the bike. It is an instant advertisement and therefore a business expense. The bike, gas, insurance, lodging, trip costs, and all the add-on goodies are now tax deductions. And you keep the bike. Tally up all the $ spent and tag it onto your '04 return. Now you can go buy another one instead cashing out.
