sparks just did a rewind on my stator (one future problem fixed) now for the cdi/coil's.
MAKE sure your ground for the cdi/coil is (GOOD) i have had (THREE) go bad in three years. the last one lasted only three min. A BAD GROUND WILL FRY THE CDI/COIL. sparks informed me on this problem. KTM- also said a bad ground could kill a cdi!!! i have never heard this from anybody till now. i would like to know how many cdi's have fried becouse of this. just another SIM problem that husaberg didn't fix. done bitching now-----EVERYONE WITH THE SIM #$#$ CLEAN ALL THE GROUNDS ON THE FRAME.

do you mean earthed? if so there is one from the cdi that connects directly to the backplate on the sem, but there is no harm in adding an extra earth wire and connecting it to the engine..please feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

one ground (earth) from the stator to cdi/coil bk lead- one from the cdi/coil to the ground ring under tank. battery - cable to frame--frame to starter mount. eng to fram--what else?
hi-lo s/w on handle bar? you tell me---

non of the other earths to do with lighting or charging affect the cdi , it is an isolated circuit all by its self, doing its own thing, my 501 is a 96 bike so there is only one from the sem that the cdi relies on, and if that aint connected then the bike dont start anyhow, but i suppose if it ran and the earth was a bit hit and miss then in theory it could overload the 1uf capacitor in the ignition coil and kill it---so hence add an extra earth and make double shore you have it "grounded"....regards

my bike is an 02 that has the two-stage cdi (hi-lo switch) two black leads coming out of it . one to stator and one to frame gn. under the tank.
