I know it's been asked before, but I'm looking into the official Berg SM kit and trying to decide if I need that or just some new wheels/tires like the Warp 9s. Here's one of the posts I found asking how they are (no answer though):
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=9331&p=80422

Who has gone which way? Are the extras in the SM kit, such as the front fender, really useful? Or do people get by with just swapping the wheels/rotors? My main use for this would be a small amount of on-road riding. Just bought my 2010 FE450 from Scott at Ross Rocher and managed to get it Ontario street plated and insurred.

Any advice?
Thanks.

Hey

I bought my kit from BOSS he did good business. The kit is costly, but the warp 9 wheels do not have a cush hub with the rubberized gaskets so all of the hard feedback from the road jacks on your gearcase. You will love the sm kit. I never ride my other bikes anymore. It takes me about 30 mins to switch the bike over from road to offroad. it will be a little more costly then you may have estimated because you will need a whole other chain sprockets rotors and the works. I also chopped my kickstand off by about an inch because your bike will stand straight up. A gentle breeze will knock it over. if you want to talk to a dealer who can get you a fair price and hook you up with some good Q&A talk to Rick at BOSS 503-255-8971.

As far as the fender goes i still have the offroad one on and doesnt matter to me. Also check if you can re program your speedo. I can't** on mine but i know that going from stock to a 17" will make a 13% adjustment on your speed you will have to calculate in your head lol. I also bought a magnet and drilled a hole in my rotor for fitment so i would not have to buy the 15 dollar assy from a dealer. If you have any questions or want some picks PM me or look at my gallery I will be happy to help with any questions you may have (ESPECIALLY with the first install)

Later,
Zach

Forgot to mention I have heard bad things about Warp 9. no personal experience but I have heard warp is a fitting term to describe them.

For which Berg are you looking? If it's a late model, ('09-'11) a KTM SM set up will bolt right up. The only slightly tricky thing is finding the correct caliper relocation bracket. However, as stated above, BOSS can get it. That's where I got mine!
