Although the absence of a radiator fan does indeed eliminate a clearance problem at the right front "ear" of the fuel tank, there is really only one way to remove it: follow the instructions in either the owner's or service manual.
Really the service manual shows the easiest way to do it
Pop the seat, remove the air filter and remove the shrouds. Unscrew the 6 screws holding the black frame (the one connecting the frame-tank-subframe). Unplug the connector to the fuel pump. Unplug the quick disconnect on the fuel line. Unscrew the screw at the top of the tank. Carefully lift it up forcing the air boot to pop loose.
Some remove or loosen the subframe. I see no reason to do it.
Make sure to put a clean rag or something in the intake and protect the quick disconnects.
A tip when you assemble it is to put the screw at the top of the tank in but do not torque it up before the black plastic frame is in place and torqued up. If not you can put some tension on the subframe and it can be hard to get the 6 screws in place.
