Hi!

Just on the other day i found myself wondering why the hell doesn't the speedogauge lights and headlight function properly together? I have a new battery, and I recharged it a while ago, so it must be the recharger of the bike? I think that the recharger doesn't charge the battery at all... So, what could be messed up and what should I do? Are rechargers easy to repair or am I forced to buy a new one? :?

Bike: Husaberg FE 400E year 2000

thanks for replies!

At first check the charging with mulitmeter if it isn't OK! check the wiring and AC voltage from generator.

Put a DC voltmeter on the battery. It should read around 12 volts. Start the engine, the voltage should go up to 13.4 - 14.5 or near that range. If it does, you're charging.

If any of these doesn't happen, it could be a bad battery or a bad alternator ("charger").

I keep a Battery Tender Junior on my battery at all times when the bike is in the garage.

When I get into rough technical sections I sometimes stall the engine a lot and have to restart. This can run a battery down. I used to have fuel problems and would often run it down trying to get re-started.
